Introduction
Welcome to Bleach Gotei!

This community has, relative to the world of Bleach RP forums, a long and storied history. Many reading this may have been former members of the website during its various incarnations from 2008 to 2018. Much has remained the same, but much more has changed, primarily in regards to how Bleach Gotei functions.

As before, Bleach Gotei takes place in an "alternate universe" from the proper Bleach canon. This means that many aspects of Tite Kubo's world, such as the Gotei 13 and Hollows, remain here and are largely unchanged. However, what is not present in any capacity are the characters of his setting. There is no Ichigo, no Orihime, no Uryuu, no Ulquiorra, no Aizen.

Instead, there are the characters you make, and the background characters the flesh out the large and varied world of Bleach. All unique to the ones created by Tite Kubo.

In the past, Bleach Gotei was a community open to the public, accessible to anyone capable of putting together a coherent character sheet. Now, Bleach Gotei will be more akin to welcoming others into your home to play your tabletop RPG of choice. Players will be selectively chosen, dependent upon other players and in-character circumstances.

Bleach Gotei, then, focuses heavily on the cooperative aspects of collaborative storytelling. While player-characters may come into conflict, it should be as part of a collaborative effort of the players behind them. There are no competitive aspects of Bleach Gotei, no currency to farm, and the conclusion of characters, through death or otherwise, sets a player back in no way.

All players of Bleach Gotei seek to work together to tell compelling, dynamic stories within our vision of Tite Kubo's world.

Making a Character
For those interested in joining Bleach Gotei and participating in the roleplay, the first step is to pitch a character concept. This is done by posting an [Application] thread in Metagame Discussion with a brief outline of the character you'd like to explore and play as. This is in order to spark a discussion with existing and other prospective characters as well as the Storyteller in order to reach a point where not only is your character concept workable, but also properly anchored in the world they are about to enter. You may, if you wish, also use this thread to keep a working copy of your character sheet, but this should not be the main aim of the thread.

Once your character concept reaches a point where you and the Storyteller are happy with it, you will be assigned to your desired race and will be able to post your character sheet in the Character Sheets board. Once done, you will be able to add your character mechanics and a thread tracker, and the Storyteller will be along shortly in order to perform one last pass of the character as well as help you determine an appropriate level of character power.

How to Play
The Vision
As this iteration of Bleach Gotei is new experiment for everyone involved, what the best way to play will be is largely unknown. However, what we intend for our experience is much clearer.

Previous incarnations of Bleach Gotei were entirely player-driven, which was to say that player-characters made up all major roles within the world and drove all activity. Unless a player, and their character, created interesting events and opportunities for others, they didn't happen. This was subject to many problems, as the inactivity of players, comings and goings, and a general lack of vision could severely hamper everyone's experience. Worse, requirements for writing immense amounts of words in order to grow a character's power further limited what a player-character could do, and when.

Now, Bleach Gotei will run in a series of Arcs. These Arcs will be guided by a Storyteller, providing background cast and initial circumstances as needed. Players will then help influence and drive events through the actions, decisions, and relationships of their characters, which will be woven into events as they transpire.

As we currently envision it, most writing will take place in threads between player-characters without a Storyteller's involvement. These threads will often occur between major events within the Arc, which will include player-characters as well as non-player-characters portrayed by the Storyteller. It's these events where the biggest and most direct impact on the story of the Arc may be made.

It is important to note that the players will be expected to work with the Storyteller instead of simply consuming the story they provide. This two-way relationship, where both parties contribute to pushing forward the events and the world, will be vital to the Bleach Gotei experience, just as much as collaboration between players themselves.
