The school year is coming upon us faster than you'll expect it. And while many of you already know this, you should be prepared to see a massive lull in late August/early September that can even extend into mid-to-late fall when Exams start. People will be going on hiatus or "quitting" like they do every year.
Have an exit strategy. Communicate with your fellow players as to what responsibilities they have coming up in the next academic year. And, again, have a plan for if one of you suddenly can't post or just can't post as often as the other would like.
We all have lives and that's awesome and we shouldn't prioritize Bleach Gotei over them. But don't feel the need to quit (either the site or school/work) over the extra workload. Just plan ahead: slow down your collaborative RP acceptances or, better yet, communicate with the other players in the game so they know you won't be posting quite as fast. Better yet: try to find other people who will have similar workloads in the fall who won't mind waiting for a post!
Winter is our most popular time for people to come out of nowhere and declare an intent for activity...then fall off the face of the earth. That being said, if your thread can survive the winter all the way past the first week of January, your probably in the clear.
Feel like this is a relevant time to hush the doomspeakers: bleach Gotei, especially staff, is almost always inactive in late spring. Well see a burst of activity in early June. Well also see more new RPers than ever. If you want to rp with a newer member do it sooner rather than later. Unless the new member comes in with friends, they are statistically likely to quit by the fall when the new school year picks up.
But if they have a couple topics completed by then? They'll feel more compelled to stay.

Just a note, because I don't know how well this information has gotten out; the reason I haven't set foot in the character mechanics forum is because I've been insanely busy working on a new patch. I am here and very active but delaying working on individual character's mechanics until the system itself is solid. Ideally the patch will hit some time in the next week, but I'm really bad at deadlines so you shouldn't hold me to that.
Definitely not going to be an 'indefinite future time' thing though. I'm getting it out the door as soon as possible.
They are also more compelled to stay if approvals are fast enough that we don't lose their muse to time, mechanics aren't patched right after they finish their techs and all veteran members are making them feel welcome by having time to post with them.
They are fine when people get used to the community here.
When I first entered chat I was greeted with many hellos and people inquiring what race I was going to play and hugs all around. It was great.
I've seen others being completely ignored and instead people saying some...quite shocking things in chat. And when your a new player you don't feel like you have the rights (possibly) to participate in such a thing.
Seireitei is crumbling and the Gotei is a shell of its former self. Ravaged by the plague, the surviving Shinigami struggle to maintain the balance, but with so few of them left, the work is taxing and their fortress-city has fallen to neglect. Spread thin across all fronts, their diminished presence has been noted by friend and foe alike.
The Arrancar have rebuilt Las Noches and are rallying. The throne remains empty, but self-styled Espada have risen up from among them and are vying for control, each one endlessly testing the others’ weaknesses. Too evenly matched for any one of them to claim the crown, they bide their time, waiting for the opportune moment.
On Earth, all seems well—but there is a war being fought in the shadows as the mortals find themselves lacking the protection they once had and so sorely need. The Quincy, having realized the oppressive specter of the Shinigami is no more, are flourishing, and are fighting the Hollow-breeds with renewed vigor.
