Physical Description: Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, Seraphina was blessed with skin a shade or two darker than olive, as well as long, fair hair the colour of dark brown. She grew well in her formative years, physically maturing and coming to an admirable stop in her adult years. She stands at a slightly above average height, with slender legs that usually take confident strides down the streets of her hometown. Her arms have slight muscle to them from years of training to wield both her Quincy bow and recurve bow. Her stomach and shoulders are firm, toned from the same work that has kept her alive. Her hands are no different, sacrificing a soft womans touch for a slightly calloused grip, with her fingertips having the worst of the bunch from her archery. Her eyes are stern, yet not so that they scare others away. Her lips are full, yet often remain sealed in a tight line or taunting smirk.
She wears little makeup, though she favours the egyptian eye makeup often depicted by women, and wears it on her right eye and leaves her left clear. Seraphina wears no glasses or ocular aids, and often lets her hair free of hats, choosing to wear two hair pieces on her bangs at the most. She boasts a large supply of clothing, as no outfit is the same as the last, nor does she wear them repeatedly throughout the week. Commonly, she wears jeans that allow her to remain stylish, yet comfortable, and some type of top that allows her to have a full range of her upper body control, usually with shortened or no sleeves.
The exception to her clothing rule is her Quincy uniform, which boasts the traditional blue and white colours of the olden Quincy. A dress of white that flows beautifully to her calves, allowing enough room to run and participate in combat with, the dress otherwise stays tight to a certain figure, that of her mother and her grandmother and the women of her Quincy bloodline. The dress holds blue hems on the waist, the breasts and the shoulders, where sterling silver crosses are seen attached to the areas. On the left shoulder is the name of her Quincy bloodline, embroidered in deep navy blue; Rubeus.
Spiritual Description: Seraphina’s spiritual power can be felt as a soft wave from the oceans, with the associated colour being that of a turquoise with golden highlights within the waters. Often, the waves themselves carry a salty breeze and the smell of the sea with it. When active and, often, in distress, the waves themselves rise to several meters, splashing forth and creating a tropical storm sensation to those around her. The immediate location around her becomes wet, yet dries seconds after she moves.
Personality: A proud woman, Seraphina has been known to carry herself high, doing little in her life to stoop to a lower level than that which she stays. In her childhood, she was raised a lady within a family of old fashioned mannerisms. Taught to clean, cook, and behave, she was given little room as a child to act. As a teenager, she was taught further about her familys history as Quincy, leading her to take up the mantle. The incredible weight of her bloodlines restoration and her own un-child-like childhood caused her to change as an adult into a duty-bound woman, often sent across the world many times within a year to help her bloodline. Over her travels, she grew and matured in her own way, learning of the actual world and what was beyond her family.
Polite - Seraphina was raised under a man’s thumb in a man’s world. She was taught proper manners by her mother, and the same duties that one would expect of a maid from her parents as well. Because of this, she always holds tight to the idea of proper manners and attitude, often showing respect and appreciation to those around her. She hardly harbours a negative attitude to strangers.
Calm - A trait she had to master before taking her classes into long range combat, Seraphina excels in keeping a level head in situations that would cause stress or emotional duress.
Dutiful - While she remains a free and more-or-less independent woman in her adulthood compared to her childhood, she still willingly acknowledges her duties as a woman, and more importantly, as a Quincy. She takes her duties with her daily life, often finding ease in her human side and it’s duties, compared to the destruction her Quincy history has lead her to take the mantle of. Because of her decision to remain dutiful, she often feels responsible for issues caused by her prior Quincy bloodline or by her own self, often seeking to repair bridges that were once burned or make up for her own bloodlines errors with the Quincy of the world.
Humourous - Seraphina always tries to find a ray of sunshine in dark days, often taking a moment during a rough time to make fun of the situation, or tell a horrid pun or joke to herself or those around her. Her humour often exceeds the intelligence or even awareness of those around her, leading to curious minds or exasperated groans and displeasure, yet a smile on her own face.
Perceptive - As a fighter and even further as a spiritual being, Seraphina is quite the perceptive individual, looking beyond the cover of the book and into the pages and fine writing within. She can read the face and microexpressions of an individual, use her senses to detect even the slightest changes or movements in her environment and act accordingly.
Cautious - With the weight of her family’s bloodline on her shoulders, Seraphina often treads carefully around the other families of Quincy and their associates, leading to her actions being paced or seeming timid in the long run.
Insecure - A trait only recently gained, Seraphina often allows the world to crumble around her, finding no solace in being able to reconnect her family and herself with their kind, nor finding the ability to bring respect and honour to the Rubeus bloodline. Often, her insecurity is hidden by her humourous jokes and comments.
Over-imaginative - With humour comes its horrid second cousin, this trait was birthed by Seraphina’s desire to make situations light and fun. While often perceived as negative or childish, her imagination often leads to her thinking outside of the box, though it more than often leads to horrid jokes, bad ideas and made-up outcomes.
Quincy Cross: A hand-me-down from her mother’s family, the Rebeus cross is a simple silver Christian cross and a dogtag placed behind it. The dogtag is from no known military, but reads ‘Rubeus Di’, with the rest of the name missing from a bullet hole. Supposedly, the name is Rubeus Diego, the first Quincy of Seraphina’s family.
Power: The ability to manipulate elemental arrows and compositions is a power her family's Quincy bloodline has been capable of for generations, and hardly skips Seraphina. Seraphina can fire arrows of tangible or intangible matter, such as fire or wooden arrows, from her Quincy bow. While made of her reishi, she can create an arrow of physical matter from her nearby location, such as turning a brick building wall into an arrow made of the same material. While these arrows can weigh an incredible amount depending on the source material, they typically are released and fly the same way a typical Heilig Pfeil does, with the only difference being how hard it impacts against a target.
Spirit Weapon: While her power allows change, her basic weapon always remains a lengthy recurve bow, the colour of light turquoise and ordinary in any other concept.
Origin: Born and raised in Barcelona Spain in 1992, Seraphina was given home in a building lost to time. Her mother and the associating family with it were of Quincy blood and typical inbreeding to keep the bloodline strong, leading to a closed culture, yet pure. Her father was a human, as ordinary as they come, yet oldfashioned in his own raising. This lead to her childhood being more education than enjoyment, where her days were often filled with learning how to properly set a table or cook a dinner for the family.
Her family taught her little, if anything, of the Quincy until they knew for sure whether the bloodline ended with her mother, causing her to fall light on the history of the race entirely when the time finally came in her teenage years.
Rise to Power: When Seraphina was 14, she was given her first insight to the spiritual world beyond what she knew. During a trip to the outskirts of the town for the weekend, Seraphina and her father were attacked on the first night by a spiritual being, nearly invisible in the dark shadows of the night. While both were fortunate enough to survive the first night, the second night was not so blessed. While Seraphina slept, her father was attacked and killed quickly by a hollow, preying on the reiatsu that Seraphina had within her.
Sensing the being nearby, Seraphina’s mother rushed to the aid of her daughter, who had managed her way to the city, the hollow just meters behind her. Invisible to the few indivduals, the hollow lunged after Seraphina, setting its claws close to her, yet missing multiple times when it continued. It wasn’t until her mother arrived that Seraphina was within sanctuary.
The girl watched her mother draw forth an unknown energy, summoning a bow from the cross dangling on her wrist and letting loose a bolt of energy towards the creature. At first, it halted, screeching and shaking the buildings around them. It allowed Seraphina to hide behind her mother, watching the duel between the two as arrows were let loose down the street, ending the hollows life within a single moment.
The mother kept her daughter close, asking what she knew so far from the night of the death of her father. She learned of her potential ability to continue the bloodline she so nearly ended by not marrying her own blood, and took close care to teach her daughter the proper ways of their people.
Over the course of her teenage years, Seraphina was instructed in archery and even the potential for long range weaponry, in off chances where reishi manipulation wasn’t viable or worth the effort. Pistols and rifles were the simplest to start with and were mastered within a year, while a bow still remained difficult for the teenage girl to master completely. They began with a physical bow, watching her learn the proper stances and firing techniques, as well as how to remain calm, patient, attentive and cold in the middle of a hunt. If an arrow was ever let loose to kill, there had to be no emotional sway. The latter was the only issue Seraphina ever had with mastering her art over the years, and plagued her for many more.
When her marksmanship was at an all-time high, they put the woman to the test, allowing her to attempt to materialize a spiritual bow of her own. The task was simple as breathing to her mother, yet came to Seraphina as easily as underwater welding. In the course of an entire year, Seraphina could never materialize a bow. It wasn’t until circumstances allowed her to revisit a traumatic event once more, when a hollow visited her family once more after the second year met its halfway point. At this point, the twenty-year-old woman defended herself and the town as well as she could, yet physical guns could hurt the hollow none.
When her mother jumped in front of her to begin the onslaught to end the hollow’s life, the hollow itself found a new target. The mother would surely be a better feast. A worthier combatant as well.
When her mother was slung from the street and into the nearby buildings, Seraphina found an anger within her. A desire to break the calm and emotional detachment she was taught to use like a blade or gun. It allowed her to summon her own spiritual bow and quench the rising tide of her emotional stress, as well as bring peace of mind to her mother. While her mother spent her time in the hospital to recover from her wounds, Seraphina practiced her art, as well as educating herself on what she could.
Call to Action: As the potentially last heir to her mother’s family bloodline, Seraphina was tasked with bonding with the Quincy families of the world. Bridges were burned with her mother’s marriage to a human without the approval of the associated families and the Rubeus were exiled by most neighbouring families. She wasn’t sure if the word of such punishment was given to the families of the world or just those nearby, and as such, her mother wished to repair the possible connections around the world, to find hope for their family to continue having purpose in the spiritual world and not having to perish with time.
With her duties known, Seraphina began her journey around the world, taking trips for months at a time to countries or provinces to find her kind and make alliances, truces and connections.
