"You are never the same twice, and much of your unhappiness comes from trying to pretend that you are.
Accept that you are different each day, and do so joyfully, recognizing it for the gift that it is.
Work within the desires and goals of the person you are currently, until you aren't that person anymore, and everything changes once again"
~Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor

Erasmus has let himself go in recent days, the fat of his body beginning to catch up with the slowly loosening muscle that Erasmus proudly (but privately) considers his "dad bod." Despite the developing flab he conducts himself with strength and confidence, straight backed and tall in the face of his age, with the occasional issue with sitting and standing. Old scars slash and twist the skin below his neck, growing thicker and more frequent as they move toward the center of his body where, hidden by fine hair, a tiny pin-prick of a wound has created a small bump in the middle of his sternum.
A lions mane of grey hair messily frames the face of a man that has matured with dignity, the slight onset of a receding widows peak making progress above his brow, and below it the waves of his forehead tell of an expressive pair of eyebrows. The emerald eyes below them twinkle with good humor and kindness that both confirms and belies the many sights they've seen, eyes capable of comforting warmth and chilly disapproval. Sitting between those eyes is an ever so slightly crooked nose, evidence of many breaks and improvised fixes. Falling away from the nostrils are deep laugh-lines that connect to the corners of a mouth that's frequently grinning about something or another. Even stubble surrounds his mouth, neatly cleaved off at the neck and trimmed at the temples.
Wardrobe-wise Erasmus hasn't changed much, his collection of garments only growing to accommodate buttoned shirts, sweaters, slacks, and the rare horrendously designed shirt that all dads are expected to own and wear at parties. With no uniform and no favored trait for clothing beyond "comfortable" Erasmus' outfit changes from day to day. Y'know, like a normal person.
Yellow is the dominant color of Erasmus' reiatsu, as opposed to the muddied gold that it used to be before his transcendence. Without the doubts and confusion to dirty it the sight of his power has been purified into a clean and crisp shade, bright and evenly spread. To feel it, if one is capable of doing so, is to be enveloped in a near-overwhelming sense of possibility, daunting in it's scale yet comforting in it's purpose and meaning. Being in the presence of his spiritual strength is to know and share his certainty, his iron will, the safety and support of a being that has everyone's best interests at heart.
Most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally evil,
but by people being fundamentally people
~Open Minded | Erasmus welcomes all with open arms regardless of background, upbringing, thoughts, or opinions. Perhaps not as combative as he once was he's still ever fascinated with where people have come from and where they are going.
~Attentive | Always eager to please Erasmus is more than happy to play host to friends, family, and guests, offer help where needed and will rarely turn away a person in need. Requiring no payment and without desiring, but no less thankful, for praise Erasmus is all too happy to see somebody leave his presence in good spirits.
~Honest | The value of honesty has only increased for Erasmus post-transcendence. Honesty with the self and honesty with others is the swiftest, though not always the easiest, way to understanding the most important lessons in life.
~Empathetic | Erasmus has lived many lives in his five century existence, gained and lost much and more. Couple that with his ability to see the web of Progress spanning from each and every soul and it's not hard to believe that he can understand the thoughts and feelings of another.
~Fatherly | Wisdom and advice flows freely from Erasmus Mei, as supportive of strangers as he is his own daughter, Erasmus simply wants each and every being to be the best that they can be. A boundless unconditional love for all things.
~Worrywart | Constantly concerned Erasmus has to fret over something, usually his daughter. It's a core part of his being and not something he wants to give up. Understanding that worrying is a vital part of who he is Erasmus is content with the balancing act he has under control.
~Detached | Being able to see the branching paths of each persons choices, having the understanding of a being higher than others, these things have erected a divide between Erasmus and the rest of the world that solidifies his view of the Hollow that hunger for souls, the Shinigami that live for balance, and the Mortals who struggle to survive as children and he the adult. If anything, Erasmus tries his best to respectfully keep this perception of reality from coloring his actions and speech with a condescending hue.
~Reluctant | Vowing to never get too involved, believing that his strength will never be needed, Erasmus will be hesitant in the face of a dangerous soul and while Erasmus understands that that is for the best it won't win him any friends should his assistance with such matters be sought out. He'll help find a lost soul find it's way, but destroying a lost soul is another matter entirely.
~Insatiable | There's always more lessons to learn, more tales to hear, more to experience, more things to better himself with or use to help others better themselves. If that were all there was too it this wouldn't be too bad, but sometimes Erasmus overwhelms people with his capacity for and ability to digest information. Yet another downside to enlightenment, I suppose.
~Xiaobei Mei | Love | My little girl. Well, not so little anymore, but you get my point. Cute as a button, and so sweet you'll ache. I'm so proud of her, I couldn't ask for a better child, I just wish she'd stop shedding her spines everywhere.
~Aiyo & Mie Mei | Love | The terrible two. Still a handful, despite the enlightenment. Some things never change.
~Rose Von Creg | Grief | I miss you, nothing will change that, I'm just sorry that I made you the source of all my problems.
~Satine Purpureo | Concern | You knew who I was. Why didn't you say anything? What made you feel like you had to keep silent?
~Anise Am Vilde | Concern | In a way I'm glad you vanished, you avoided the fate that Liora met. All the same I truly did care for you, and I worry what's become of you.
~Rania Odette | Estranged | I'm not even sure what I'd say to you. I know you're capable of moving on, but I'm clearly not the person to help you do that. Perhaps it's best that we don't cross paths again, for your sake more than anything.
~Sekai Fujimura | Admiration | You are an amazing little woman, after everything I've put you through and everything you've done for me you're welcome in my home any time, Xiaobei would love to see you again. So would I.
~Tova "Truth" Diablo | Tolerant | I respect you. I may not understand you or agree with you, but I respect you.
~Weylin Von Wolfenstein | Worry | I'm sorry for everything I did, whether you appreciate it or not I'm concerned for you and the path you're currently on. If you ever need help then seek me out.
~Kenshou Ine | Redeemed | I won't say I regret what happened between us, I may not be where I am today if it didn't. But all the same I'm sorry for laying so much of the blame on your shoulders, you didn't deserve that.
~Seryu Akamine | Pride | You did well, despite what I did to you. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I hope you know that I'm proud of you.
~Takua Megiddo | Supportive | I stand by most of the things I told you, I worry a little about how those things have affected you, but I know you're on the right path, just keep going.
~Freyleif Jökulsdóttir | Supportive | Go on then, little one. Prove me wrong, I believe in you.
~Verbrennung | Supportive | Perhaps the best thing I ever did as Obsession was show you the way. I have high hopes for you.
~Eve Avana | Concern | You were (Are?) inherently damaged. I wish you luck, and I hope that you seek my help one day.
~Kionchi Tsukiyo | Regret | Perhaps the worst thing I did as Obsession. I dearly hope that you find your way soon.
~Tokiyo Fujikagi | Distrustful | Maybe it's a little hypocritical, but despite the path that you're on I think it's best that you and I stay away from one another.
~Shun Minamoto | Fear | There's a good and influential man in there, I know it, but at the same time all it takes is one slip and I see so much of myself reflected in the path you'll walk. Be careful.
~Robert Muhle | Apologetic | I treated you as a means to an end and fed your insatiable desire for power, I believed I was helping you, but now there's no way to know for certain.
____The Power of Progress____
You can have the power to destroy, but it doesn't give you the power to reform, or improve, or build.
~George R.R. Martin
More of a custodian of progress than an instigator or controller of it, Erasmus can see and present a web of progress, a representation of the choices that a person or people have made and will make and the consequences, branching paths, and dead ends that they entail. Fascinated by the proceedings Erasmus will simply watch things in the multiverse unfold, follow paths to their conclusions -if any- in an effort to learn more about the world, or the worlds that could be. Using his own initiative and discretion Erasmus will occasionally use this power to anticipate the path a person is currently on and, should they have difficulty travelling in either direction, help them make a choice by offering a friendly ear and a few kind words of advice. The responsibility is a heavy one as caution must be taken not to push the individual, but instead to give them as much information as they need to make a choice for themselves. Always concerned for the world and it's inhabitants, like a father caring for his children, Erasmus watches progress take place and grins proudly at each and every soul.
