It's a little late, apologies. Life has been interesting.
We didn't have too many people using the thread last month, so we're going to open this up and change the format for the month. This thread spans all recognition you want for August and September. That all said, let's keep a few things in mind. Try not to spam the thread too much- if every person you thread with is getting praised, it lacks the same impact. Try, if possible, to keep holding yourself to that same 2-3 people per month. In general the categories are player, character, and thread, but you can expand out- just try to keep it reasonable.
If this format works, we'll have a thread for the current month going forward, being locked to keep the threads small and easy to find/parse. If people can't restrain themselves and keep trying to give kudos to everyone, we'll go back to the other way of doing things.

A tip: I don't think we need "timed" Recognition Threads. If anything, I'd make one Recognition Thread in Metagame and make it a non-expiring Announcement so we see it in all boards.
Why? Because I don't think anyone should be dissuaded from talking about something just because they didn't think to earlier on. As an example?
Eat My Wings with Kionchi was fantastic. Of course, it's easy to point out how his writing and playing has evolved over the years. Before, I genuinely didn't enjoy writing with him. Now? I've got three complete, successful threads with him -- that's more than many pairs of players can claim!
Although definitely different, and despite my initial skepticism about how it'd turn out, the thread was fundamentally enjoyable. It flowed, it worked, and I feel like we were able to bring a lot to life in it. And I think it was, also, a perfect example of having plans, goals, but keeping flexibility.
The thread had a direction it knew it wanted to go in, but it never really expected the things that happened along the way. Or, even, the way it ultimately ended. How everything came together, against the expectations of everyone initially involved, was very satisfying, in my opinion.
I look forward to finally having Shun and Kionchi face off, with no more lies or deceit to hold them back from each other.

Good points, Shun Minamoto , I'll let you know that we are working to evolve this in a direction that could be compared to your idea. As stated in the July recognition thread, expect tweaks to this concept. I'm not sure on the ETA, but it's something for the future~

I was already considering a step in that direction pending how things went this month. It would fit nicely into the same niche as the Vent and Gratitude thread, only this time focused on the site itself and events therein instead of the general outside world.
We'll see what happens, but it is a very logical next step.

If you do in fact go with a general Recognitions thread, I'd change the sidebar to be "Latest Recognitions". Don't bump things off too fast, I don't think. The list can get a little long, since the blocks are collapsible and it's just a list of names and threads.
I would like to recognize a few people, in no particular order, and while I realize that this could also go into the gratitude thread, I am hoping it might give some of ya’ll sweet nostalgia pains.
Ryder, for telling me all those years ago to keep at it, and that eventually I would be able to play in the Big League.
Mr Anonymous, who played a thread with me when I was but a noob and he one of a well liked and busy player at the time.
Kireon, for the numerous times you explained to me how my characters work.
Cho, I’ll probably remember for years to come the moment you went “Omg, Wey, I dont think you realize how much of a bro you are”.
Adi, for being Adi and helping me string together some pretty cool stories. You’ll forever be Wey’s best friend.
Ichiro, for being the Rylai to my Lina.
Ine, for being gruff, yet lovable and actually playing a Quincy for more than a few threads so that we were able to basically establish BG canon in one thread.
Yaksha, for telling me to go cuh-razeh on making paragraphs.
Shura, for coming out of nowhere and still being in my life somehow.
Mika, cause waifuing you is obvs. Best Choice in the RPG called Life.
Tova, for being way less scary to talk to than I had somehow gotten into my head all these years ago.
Erasmus, for making some of my best RPG moments happen.
Paks, forever I will remember you not only as the badass Kiriko, but the little girl that preceded her, who needed protection from evil werewolves.
Speaking of those, Donovan, I do remember you too.
Takua, for playing working through so many Weylin threads to be able to give me feedback on my writing. When will you finally go royal?
Tokiyo, for being the best CC I remember, and creating a compelling persona I like to keep tabs on. How about your royalfication? Can I get a letter of recommendation for Nagisa to join 0 Div before that happens?
TK, for way too invested into everything you do. For better and worse.
Jasper, for having the faith to make me LT., and even stick up for me when Hazuki knocked down your door.
Mitsu, for threading with me. It might sound silly to some, but when I joined the man was already a legend where I was barely able to string sentences together well enough to not get laughed at. Even now when playing with you I am bit nervous, thinking I might mess up. Kinda like that feeling though.
The Quincy, for putting up with me and my inability to come to an end.
Fujmura. Man. Just. Come back, bro.
Verbrennung, cause Senpai watches you, and youre making him proud.
Ai, for proving that gender dont matter no more in the c u r r e n t_y e a r Or all the other years where ppl were trying to figure out whether you had a dong or not.
Kai, I hope you finally are making full use of the ‘woa, I dont see well anymore, young lady’.
Flynn Declan, for inspiring me to go off the rails at times. I still reference the bar and sandwiches from time to time.
And Kyousuke. Paying a penny for your thoughts was one of the best things I’ve ever done on BG, fam.
...I literally clicked here to write a post thanking everyone for what they did, having realized I've been here five years as of last thursday, but as it was loading I was like "Nah it'd come off as weird to spam the thread with so many names...". Then I saw Weylin's and now it seems disingenuous.
Weylin, you're the first and so far only BG member to buy me sushi. And for that, there is a special place in my heart for you, because I am a whore for good seafood.
I'll write out the rest later, after giving everyone else a chance to see Weylin's awesome post!
For the sake of keeping the sidebar a reasonable size, I'm not going to add people who are being recognized for things they've done in the past. You're more than welcome to do so (in fact, I encourage it!) but the sidebar will be for people who have done something specifically this or last month.
Seireitei is crumbling and the Gotei is a shell of its former self. Ravaged by the plague, the surviving Shinigami struggle to maintain the balance, but with so few of them left, the work is taxing and their fortress-city has fallen to neglect. Spread thin across all fronts, their diminished presence has been noted by friend and foe alike.
The Arrancar have rebuilt Las Noches and are rallying. The throne remains empty, but self-styled Espada have risen up from among them and are vying for control, each one endlessly testing the others’ weaknesses. Too evenly matched for any one of them to claim the crown, they bide their time, waiting for the opportune moment.
On Earth, all seems well—but there is a war being fought in the shadows as the mortals find themselves lacking the protection they once had and so sorely need. The Quincy, having realized the oppressive specter of the Shinigami is no more, are flourishing, and are fighting the Hollow-breeds with renewed vigor.
