Sorry...Who Are You?
Name: Kokuou Munashii
Loyalties: Kosa House, [whatever position you feel appropriate.]
What Makes Us...Us?
Height & Weight 5'11, 124lb
Hair & Eye Colour black hair, green eyes.
Noticable Difference Kokuou usually wears combat boots, black jeans and a t-shirt, or button shirt. While they are always of the finest quality, the shirt usually does not have any graphics, although the ones that do generally have dragon or flame designs along the bottom of the shirt. This does not mean that he cannot, or will not dress snazzy, he does not want to stand out too much if he has to battle, and he doesn't want his favorite shirts to constantly be replaced. Kokuou wears glasses, but they are not prescription lenses, they are tinted glass to help deal with bright light and glare. Around his neck is a necklace that appears to be a blue cube with a screw cap, bound in silver that is shaped into the form of a dragon breathing fire. The cube is actually a miniature hydrogen fuel tank that is usually empty and if filled it is not with hydrogen fuel. Other then a few rings and having one of his ears pierced that was the only jewelry he wears. He occasionally wears a black leather jacket or trench coat, depending on the weather.
- Kokuou is very intelligent, not because he is a super genius found only once in a century or something silly like that, but because he has an eidetic memory, and has read books on multiple subjects.
- Kokuou is very honorable, following his own personal code. If he gives his word on something, he will do his best to see it through, if he agrees to a contract, he will follow it to the letter.
- Not having to spend a lot of time studying, gave Kokuou plenty of time to be athletic. Spending most of that time studying martial arts and Kendo, plus he found that being good at sports and in shape attracted more women.
- Due to the nature of his power, and the years of martial discipline, Kokuou has learned to focus and stay focused. It is hard to distract him, even in the middle of battle, or even when he is injured.
- Very friendly by nature, Kokuou is willing to talk to anyone or be friends with anyone.
- Kokuou is very courageous, willing to risk harm and able to suppress his fear in combat.
- While Kokuou tries to keep his temper under control, he often loses control when a friend is injured, a woman is in danger or if his code of honor is compromised. When that happens he does not get angry like most people but enters a state of Cold Rage.
- Kokuou can be very friendly, but once angered or proven to be his enemy he can be extremely cold blooded, able to switch easily the the mindset necessary to quickly eliminate his opponents.
- Due to his honor, kokuou can be very stubborn, refusing to back down or break his word unless the other person has already done so.
- Kokuou is a bit of a ladies man and will flirt and hit on any woman he finds attractive, unless he finds out that they are attached, then he will leave them be.
- Finally, Kokuou has a touch of the White Knight Syndrome, and will nearly always jump into a fight if a woman is in danger. If he is fighting a woman, he will try his best to defeat them without permanent injury.
TMI?: Kokuou loves good tasting food, so he has spent several years practicing and learning how to cook, and has gotten to the point he could work professionally at it, he is especially adept at making sweets because he has a vary large sweet tooth. He has some basic first aid knowledge, and a knowledge of medicinal herbs. Kokuou also smokes a particular type of cigarette, clove cigs, that are sweeter and much better smelling then normal cigs. He also has a tattoo of a dragon that travels down his right arm with its claws extended.
Unlock....The Power Inside
Fullbring First Manifestion: Through an innate talent, Kokuou has an affinity for the element Hydrogen. This power enables him to manipulate free-floating hydrogen in the air, as well as to rip it out of molecules that contain it, such as H2O, (either tearing it down to it's base components or leaving the substance as whatever it would become without the Hydrogen) and subsequently apply that hydrogen for various uses, mostly the creation of hydrides to specific effects based on their chemical nature (whose power is determined by the Spirit stat)
The energy normally generated by fusion or fission is simply provided by the environment and given back to it, using Kokuou's own power as a conduit to create the circuit that minimizes energy lost in the reactions. As a basic use (without techniques) all that Hydrogenocide can produce is masses of hydrogen and simple explosions from the ignition of that hydrogen, based on Kokuou's Spirit. Techniques open the door to various hydrogen compounds with specific benefits or special explosion applications.
Background: Kokuou Munashii was born the younger son to a pair of antique dealers in Tokyo. While the business did pretty well, it was located in a bad section of of the city although it was considered 'protected turf', protected as long as you paid the right people of course, so times were occasionally tough. His older brother helped around the shop a lot, working part time after school to help pay the bills. When it became obvious a few years latter that Kokuou was an incredibly bright child, due to his eidetic memory, his family put great hopes on his future, his brother quit school entirely to join up with the Yakuza gang that their family paid protection to, gaining a reduction on the protection amount so that money could be set aside for Kokuou's schooling.
Rather quickly, things began to improve thanks to the extra income. While his parents did not like the fact that their son was working for the yakuza, but since things were getting better did not say much, and thought that if they objected too loudly things could turn out a lot worse. When the Yakuza members learned why his brother joined them, they became curious to see Kokuou and after meeting him, took a liking to him, impressed by his intelligence and fearless questioning of them. It was at this point that he learned about this yakuza group's code of honor. He had already learned the importance of honor in the concept of good business practice, but it was a friendly member of his brother's yakuza gang that helped formed the version of honor that he has today, with first and foremost the concept of always keeping your word, because that is how you judge to worth of a person. They also taught him about courage, how a 'real man' should act. That he should fight when he has a reason, and if he has to fight, not to be half hearted no matter what.
By the time that Kokuou reached the age of ten, however, his brother died, apparently having been knifed in a turf war between the yakuza gang he was a part of and another gang. That was when Kokuou started getting into violent fights with the other kids at school, while some of it was just kids being kids and picking on the person who they thought was making them look bad because he always had the answers to the questions, some of the kids just thought he was a bit creepy since sometimes he would startle while looking at nothing or seem to talk to himself or claim to hear his brother or someone else that was not really there. His teachers just thought he was just playing practical joke or was still in morning, and that the kids were getting into your average everyday kid fights. Even the yakuza members thought he was just being a kid and making up stories for attention and because he missed his brother, and while they told him to knock off the stories, they did recommend him to a dojo, where he could learn to defend himself from the other children and learn to focus and control his temper.
While everyone else considered that he was just being a kid and trying to pull a joke, his mother and father reacted much differently, taking what he said more seriously and his mother even yelled at him and slapped him for lying the first time he said something, sending him to his room where he could hear them arguing and whispering so he could not hear them. Kokuou quickly learned that it was best to just not admit to seeing weird things, either because his parents would yell at him, he would lose the respect of the yakuza members he looked up to, or the kids would try to beat him up and call him a liar.
Things were hard for a time but then slowly got better, other then the way his parents acted around him if he mentioned anything unusual things were normal, so most of the time Kokuou kept quiet about it and went on with his life. For the next four years, life at school and the continued martial arts classes that were originally recommended to him in order to learn self defense proved to be a good distraction during that time and kokuou found he was good at them and enjoyed it as part of his daily routine. Yet during those four years the odd things that he originally could only hear or see as blurry images slowly grew into clear images that made it sometimes difficult to tell if what he was seeing was what everyone else was seeing.
Then nearly four years to the day of his brother's death, while Kokuou was busy conducting a science experiment at home about hydrogen the unexpected happened. At first all he heard was a strange keening sound that began to grow louder, something that sounded like the TV going haywire, so he got up and went into the next room to complain to his father that the noise was distracting, but when he entered the room the TV appeared to be fine and his father was confused about what he was saying. Then his mother came bursting out of one of the other rooms trying to say something only to have her voice drowned out as the wall next to them exploded inward sending Kokuou flying into the wall. He must have blacked out for a few minutes, because when he came to, there was this large monstrous white creature standing over the body of his father, with his mother barely holding off the creature with some sort of shield. The air was chilly and rapidly dropping as the air around the creature began to freeze. When his mother realized that he was awake and not dead she told him to run away while she held him off as long as she could, even though the only exit to the apartment was past the creature. Even as she spoke however he could see that the intense cold was somehow bypassing the shield she had somehow created and quickly covering her in ice and was creeping closer to him. Even as he crawled backwards away from the coldness, its icy tendrils touched his leg and arm freezing them into uselessness, so he was stuck back by his science experiment. Minutes seemed to drag on for hours as he watched and franticly tried to find anything that could help free him and help fight off this creature. Just as he grabbed one of the items, his mother, now fully frozen, shattered into a million pieces. In that instant, even as the cold rage descended upon him, his mind seemed to fill with knowledge, knowing exactly how to free himself from the ice and fight back. Even as the creature approached him the ice around his arm and leg, as well as the rest of the room dissolved as if it had never been there. This caused the beast to stop perplexed as to what was going on, giving Kokuou time to retreat a little farther away before the room and beast exploded.
Upon waking, Kokuou found himself in the hospital receiving medical attention for burns and broken bones, from where the apartment blew up and burned down, as well as a touch of frost burn that completely puzzled the doctors as to how that could have possibly happened. While the police questioned him as to what happened, he chose to wisely pretend that he had no clue. Talking about strange monsters and such would only make them throw him in the loony bin. Eventually it was determined that the gasoline to the apartment, since it was such a old and poorly maintained one, had broken and caused the explosion.
By that time, Kokuou was visited by an old man, who introduced himself as his grandfather, more specifically his mother's father. He went on to explain that he was going to become Kokuou's guardian, and would bring him Karakura town where he lived as a member of the Kosa Household. How the creature that he saw was a lost and corrupted soul called a Hollow, and how as a person with unique powers it was his duty to help those spirits return to a purified state. While kokuou should have remained in the hospital for another few months, His Grandfather arranged for a medical member of Kosa to look him over, and that vary day he was able to walk out of the hospital without any scars at all. After making his farewells to the friends at school and other people he knew he left for Karakura town, where he enrolled in the local school and underwent training to learn how to control the power he was gifted with. Once out of school he continued to work for the household to lay the spirits to rest.
Roleplaying Sample: It had been a quiet, still afternoon as massive storm clouds silently gathered over Karakura town. As the sound of sound of thunder broke over the area, a torrential downpour of rain started to fall, instantly soaking one of the few people still walking the streets. Swearing to himself a young slender man would quickly run to a nearby overhang next to a deserted building so that he could try and wait out the storm.
"Damn, why did I forget to grab an umbrella today?" he would mutter with a sigh as he looked down at his already soaked cloths. His short black hair was plastered against his head and after taking off the tinted glasses he wore to help protect his green eyes from glare, he would shake his head like a dog to try and get some of the extra liquid out before scowling taking stock of the rest of his condition. He wore a simple dark gray t-shirt with a black, button shirt bordered in red flames overtop, both were currently soaked entirely through, revealing that while he was slender, he clearly worked out. Continuing down he wore a simple pair of black jeans that were also rather wet. To complete the outfit were a pair of black leather combat boots that he habitably wore. Being waterproof, that was pretty much the only part of him that was currently dry.
With a sigh, the man would realize that there was really no way he could dry his glasses properly, and would slide them into his button shirt's breast pocket and pull from there a crumpled pack of cigarettes and a old beat up lighter. The sounds of the wrapper would crinkle as he started tapping out one of the slender black cigarettes. The man would finish pulling the Black cigarette out with his mouth and after shaking the container next to his ear, causing the last two to rattle around, he would shove the rest of the pack back into his pocket before he started to flick the lighter trying to get it to produce a flame. when it refused to work, he glared at it for a few seconds before trying again, causing it to immediately light. Taking a draw off the cigarette, he would watch the sweet smelling smoke gently drift off into the rain filled sky as he waited and dried out a bit, hearing only the steady sounds of the rain fall.
Glancing around the young man would reach into his pocket one more time to pull out a cell phone and hit the speed dial to one of the numbers and would wait for someone to pick up.
"Yo, it's me, Kokuou. Yes, that is right, Munashii. No, nothing is wrong. Listen, the place seems deserted, I do not see, hear, or sense anything out of the ordinary, so I think that this location is a bust. Yeah that is right; I forgot an umbrella so a ride would be great. Ok. I will wait another hour. Thanks, I will see you then. Bye." Kokuou would say speaking into the phone before hanging up. Once finished he would seem to be in somewhat better spirits as he waited for his ride to show up as his cloths dried.
