~It was certainly odd and probably says a lot about myself~ Kokuou thought to himself ~That the most comfortable, peaceful places I hang out just happen to be graveyards. No business, no people bugging me, and most ghosts do not visit graveyards , their souls are too often attached to people or things so that the graveyards are some of the least busy places around.~ then his eyes shifted towards the figure tagging along with him. ~at least it was peaceful for a short while, oh well.~ he finished thinking with a snort.
“You know you did not need to tag along with me, if you did not want to, Henrietta.”
he said speaking to the apparently young woman who had decided to tag along with him on a trip to the graveyard. He knew as a spiritualist that graves were mostly pointless, there was no souls in all but the most recent of graves, and in their line of work more often then not the soul never even makes it to the so called 'paradise' that was Soul society. No graves were for the living, to console them in their grief, to stand as testament to what a loved one had done, sometimes to be the place to utter a vow or reaffirm one that had already been made. Many of the visits that kokuou had made to graves were of the later nature, there was a old saying 'An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth, an Evil for an Evil' that struck a cord within him, and many of the destroyed souls of kosa members had been avenged at his hands as he first destroyed then later learned to cleans the ones responsible. It was probably not the best attitude to have, one that fed the desire for revenge, he tempered the thought with the knowledge that the ones responsible would not continue to disrupt the lives of any more families.
“I am sure that this is probably has been very boring for you. Soo let me tell you what. Think about it and after we are all done here we can do something you want to do.”
This time however, Kokuou was not visiting the graveyard to utter some oath of vengeance. Stopping in front of a row of headstones he looked down on the three names that were listed, all bearing the same last name. Now was the time to reaffirm his vow that he would maintain control over his powers, and never let them grow out of control like they had once. Even though the soul of the one had been responsible for the awakening of his power had also been trying to murder them all at the time he did not hold it against him. He did not even hold it against others like him, it was not necessarily their fault that they had a nature that consumed. It was what they did with their power and themselves after gaining control that mattered. Just like it did with him. As his power grew and changed, and the possible repercussions of him losing control lead towards greater casualties he made sure that he kept in mind the consequences so that they would not repeat.
“Err I said within reason, right? We can do what you want within reason.” he would say snapping out of his reflection. He wanted to keep things reasonable after all, sometimes Henrietta could make some of the strangest requests.
